Maui in May 2018

…with Jennifer Reuter, Cecilia Ryan, Sarah Burchard and Kat Michelle

Location: Hale Akua Retreat Center & Organic Farm110 Door of Faith Rd. Haiku, HI (Maui)
Dates: May 17-20 2018

Leave your busy world behind and discover the magic of Maui, on a rejuvenating 4-day wellness retreat.

We will be relaxing and recharging at Hale Akua, a luxurious eco-retreat center and organic farm situated in the jungle of Haiku, Maui overlooking the ocean. Hale Akua, although conveniently located near the airport, historic Paia town and the infamous road to Hana, will be our own private oasis tucked away from it all.

This retreat is designed to give you the opportunity to just “be” and “be taken care of”.  For you to get back in touch with the “Space of the Heart”, a term that was introduced by the great yogic-tantrik master of Kashmir: Abhniva Gupta (c. 975-1025).  He described this place as a secret place inside you where you feel the most you, that place where you feel the sheer joy of being you.  It is that part of you that stays constant in all experiences throughout your life.  It is the mysterious benevolent field within that reveals itself most readily when we take the time to slow down and just be!

This is an opportunity to “unplug” from daily routines, the digital world, politics and anything else that is cluttering your mind and stressing you out.  The time is yours to do as you wish.  There is no doubt that you will leave feeling replenished, up-leveled and with more inner strength.

Offerings will include:

– Yoga

– Meditation

– Ayurveda

– Sound bathing

– Nourishing farm to table meals

– Optional island excursions

– Swimming

– Hiking

– Massage  (price not included)

…and plenty of time for rest and personal time.

Invigorating alignment-based yoga postures in the morning, restoring and nurturing yoga postures in the evenings. Offerings will include: breathing exercises, mantra (sacred chanting) practices and philosophical discourses on the ancient tradition of yoga.  This retreat is suitable for all levels of yoga.

Whether you are new to meditation, do it daily or are somewhere in between you will receive the support you need to develop or strengthen your practice. This instruction is for everyone: experienced to beginner. Includes both seated silent practices and guided lying down practices (yoga nidra).

Sound bathing:

Sound bathing is a form of “Vibrational Medicine” and is based on the scientific principles that all matter, and most importantly, the cells in your body, vibrate to a precise frequency when healthy and to a dissonant frequency when in dis-ease.

Gong and quartz crystal bowls create resonant vibration, rhythms and tones that balance brain hemispheres, stress levels, and even tension in body tissues and cells that have fallen into “dis-ease” or “dis-harmony”.

Cecilia Ryan

Cecilia’s yoga journey began in the year 2000 in Hamburg, Germany, where she was a fitness and aerobic instructor. Fascinated by the harmonious dance between breath and movement, effort and ease, she began to immerse herself into the vast ocean of yoga. Her love for people and the desire to learn and share the ancient wisdom of yoga and its healing qualities, made the transition to teaching yoga almost natural. She completed her first teacher training in 2004 and began teaching in Germany and Portugal before she moved to Hawaii in 2008. In 2011 she completed her 200hr RYT and in 2015 her 500hr RYT under Mary Bastien and Jennifer Reuter. Cecilia also embraces a daily meditation practice taught to her by Dr.Paul Muller-Ortega. She considers herself a student of life and aspires to “ride the wave of each breath, connect to the flow of life, and celebrate each moment as a gift”.

Jennifer Reuter

Jennifer commits to teaching yoga, as way of life, both on and off the yoga mat. Her approach to teaching yoga is based off the principle that each pose is a metaphor for conscious living.

Jennifer fell in love with the yoga tradition in 1998 after receiving her first copy of the “Bhagavad Gita”. Being certified in the health and fitness industry since 1995, it was only natural that the passion of yogic philosophy would guide her to find the passion of asana on the yoga mat. She has studied extensively with many different teachers and believes there is no “one” way or style that is superior, but only the way that feels right in your body, mind, and heart. Her main influences include: Shiva Rea, Sianna Sherman, Tias Little, Anusara & Pilates systems.  You will find that her classes are “interdisciplinary” inviting both ancient and modern; they are intelligent, innovative and always incorporate the deeper aspects of yogic philosophy, mantra, breath and meditation.

Jennifer is a long-time meditator and since 2008 has been formally enrolled with Blue-Throat Yoga (a school dedicated to the study of meditation, yoga, and tantra). These in-depth studies have highlighted the subtle and nuanced understandings of the theory and practice of meditation. She credits her own personal meditative practice as the source of her greater wisdom, love, and presence.

Sarah Burchard

Sarah is a natural foods chef, certified health coach and the author of The Healthy Locavore, a food and lifestyle blog based in Honolulu. She hosts a farmers market tour twice a month in Kaka’ako and sources local ingredients for her farm to table dinners and wellness retreats. Sarah cooks nutritious and culturally inspired food, inspires people to live healthier lives, connects people to their food sources and is fiercely dedicated to supporting her community. She is a dedicated yogi, practices meditation daily and enjoys paddleboarding, swimming and hiking when she isn’t restaurant hopping or shopping at her neighborhood farmers market. Follow her in Instagram @healthylocavore and in 2018 @yearofingredients where she is posting a new Hawaiian ingredient everyday and how to cook with it.

Kat Michelle

Kat relocated to Hawaii, for “just the summer”, 24 years ago.  And for the past 22 years has been involved in the healing arts, which began by becoming a massage therapist. After stepping into this new realm, Kat was intensely drawn to a wide range of healing methods and modalities from many different theories and cultures. With all of her years of study and experience combined,  she created her own powerful and effective blend of modalities, which she now facilitates through a source of an innate guidance.

Her  journey has been filled with many different courses, countries and callings that became increasingly abundant along her path. This shaped her life with many incredible adventures while following a map of holistic wellness and spiritual treasures.

Kat’s offerings include deep therapeutic bodywork, yoga, holistic health coaching, brain training, massage and cupping.

Hale Akua

Hale Akua is a green resort and organic farm situated in the jungle along the slopes of Haleakala, Maui’s dormant volcano, overlooking 30 miles of untouched Hawaiian coastline. The property is cooled by ocean trade winds in the summer and has some of the purest air to breathe on the island, thanks to the negative ions which are emitted from the 150 foot waterfall just below and great distance away from residues from gasoline, herbicides, and pesticides. Because of it’s remote location the moon and stars are gorgeous at night!

There are several luxurious houses to stay in, a solar heated salt water swimming pool overlooking the garden, two hot tubs, an infra-red sauna and state of the art yoga studio.

Hale Akua Garden Farm is in the perfect location for growing organic vegetables and fruits. They also have chickens that produce organic eggs as well.

Farm tours are offered, where you can learn all about organic gardening and edible landscaping. You can find their produce being offered in restaurants such as the Flatbread Company and Maui Kombucha, the local health food store Mana Foods, and at the Upcountry Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
